There are several different meditations held
(
time and
place ):
Avalokiteshvara
meditation
Avalokiteshvara means The
Lord who gazes/looks down at the world with compassion. He
represents Buddha's infinite compassion. Avalokiteshvara's
Tibetan name is Chenrezig. His Holiness Dalai Lama is the
incarnation of Avalokiteshvara. This meditation includes
visualizations and reciting of the Avalokiteshvara
mantra.
Medicine Buddha
meditation
Bhaisajyaguru, or Medicine
Buddha, is the Buddha of healing. He is a very old Buddha,
from long before Gautama Buddha (the ”historical” Buddha).
Medicine Buddha was described by Gautama Buddha, and the text
can be found in what is called the Medicine Buddha Sutra. His
color is blue (lapis lazuli), which is the color of healing.
This meditation includes visualizations and reciting
of the Medicine Buddha mantra.
Green Tara
meditation
Green Tara is
known as the mother of liberation, and represents the virtues
of success in work and
achievements. Her qualities are action and protection, kindness and caring,
and strong earth-connection. The name Tara
means “star” or “she who ferries
across”.
She is the female aspect of
Avalokiteshvara.
We meditate on Green Tara to develop certain
inner qualities and understand outer, inner
and secret teachings about compassion and
emptiness.
Many people reach Enlightenment through the powerful practice of
Green Tara. This practice helps
us to a better future, better relationships with ourselves and
others, heal illness (both physical and
mental), reduce stress, and to overcome
fear.
Green Tara practice is common to all schools
of Tibetan Buddhism. This meditation includes
visualizations and reciting of the Green Tara
mantra.
Breath Yoga
meditation
This meditation covers a
very powerful breath exercise, with a powerful
mantra.
Avalokiteshvara
Sometimes the meditation
held will be a combination of the ones described
above.
Lama Lobsang will explain,
go through, and guide the meditation. In addition,
explainations in Norwegian will also be given. Necessary texts
will be handed out.
